NICK JONES - VIRTUAL PRODUCTION dIRECTOR
I’ve been shooting in Virtual Production since mid 2020, - I was the first director to shoot in VP in the uk. I’ve now shot over 57 days of VP on various stages – I’m the most experienced VP director currently in Europe & EMEA.
Happy to direct, technical direct, co-direct your VP project, or be a VP consultant guiding your project to get the best result from VP for you and your client, whatever works best for you and your team!.
60” ALL VP REEL
Shooting in Virtual Production, everything is captured in camera, live, with little or no postproduction. Much of the work is done in Pre-vis, so you, your client know exactly what you’re getting up front.
Locations in VP are created in 3D cgi/(or 2.5D) so you can shoot in limitless locations whatever part of the world (or other worlds) you wish to be. VP is particularly good at solving hard-to-shoot location issues, such as oil rigs, rooftops etc. Equally VP is great for multiple locations within the same film.
Performances are naturalistic and genuinely motivated, as VP immerses the actors within the scene all around them on the LED walls, so they can see the actual scene unfolding.
The skill is in matching the background 3D CG environments with the foreground elements of props, lighting and performance, so that through the camera everything combines into a seamless whole, and of course, it’s massively low carbon.
Costs with VP are roughly 20/30% lower than traditional shooting.
I love shooting in VP and am enthusiastic about the possibilities and potential. You can have magic hour all day, change location, and adjust any part of your scene with just a click of a button.
Through my VP journey, I’ve contacts with VP studios and technical artists who can create the type of 3D CGI backgrounds required. I know the pipeline and working methodology – end to end. I can advise which scripts or scenes are suitable for VP, I can shoot, mentor, and explain to creatives, producers and DoP’s how it all works. It’s an exciting new world and I’m thrilled to be part of it.
Feel free to drop me a line or give me buzz and I can happily fill you in and make something cool together.

Shooting in Virtual Production everything is captured in camera, live with little or no postproduction. Much of the work is done in Pre-vis, so you, your client & producer know exactly what you’re getting up front. It’s pretty risk averse – no bad weather, no cancelled flights, no location permits, no visa issues.
Performances are naturalistic and genuinely motivated, as VP immerses the actors within the scene all around them on the LED walls, so they can see the actual scene unfolding.
